1849 $10 Gold Mormon Coin Restrikes
The 1849 ten dollar gold Mormon restrike is probably the only coin from the series where the restrike is more common than the actual gold coin. That does not mean that period ten dollar Mormon restrikes are common; that just means that the actual gold coins are very scarce. The authentic gold coins are worth many multiples of the restrikes.
All gold mormon coin restrikes are very easy to spot because they were struck on brass. The restrikes also only feature one side of the coin. The reverse of the restrikes is completely blank.
The restrikes were executed some time around 1900. However, there is no exact explanation for why they were created.
