1849 twenty dollar Mormon gold coin restrikes are virtually non-existant.  This fact does by no means make the restrikes more valuable than authentic coins.  However, the twenty dollar denomination is considered to be unique.  Only the obverse 1849 $20 restrike is known to exist.  It is possible that 1849 $20 reverse restrikes were never even executed.

All gold mormon coin restrikes are very easy to spot because they were struck on brass.  The restrikes also only feature one side of the coin.  The reverse of the restrikes is completely blank.

The restrikes were executed some time around 1900.  However, there is no exact explanation for why they were created.
